FACTORY
CAPABILITIES

The factory is home to both Kesslers London and Proportion London brands and is located in Highams Park, East London. We are proud to be able to seamlessly manage projects from start-to-finish in house on this site. All disciplines, concept design, engineering, prototyping, manufacturing, sourcing and installation work together here, creating a series of experts in each field who are passionate about working as one to deliver excellence for customers.

The design process starts with our creative studio, who undertake sector research, look at global trends and who are the custodians of the customers’ brands. They bring innovative thinking and show-stopping ideas to a brief and develop a creative vision for a project which delivers ideation for projects from simple shelf toppers right up to a brand-takeover or Shop-in-Shop.

The engineering team then take creative concepts and make them a reality, engineering the fine details and selecting the best materials and manufacturing techniques. Working closely with the in-house prototyping team to build the unitary, which allows testing and design checks to take place. It also enables the assembly team to be briefed for production, making the process as seamless as possible.

Final designs are briefed into Production, preferably making the most of our in-house production capabilities, but also using one of our trusted global supply partners, to ensure that the execution of the project best meets the needs of the customer.

Our in-house capabilities include:

  • METAL
  • WOOD
  • PLASTIC
  • CARDBOARD
  • SPRAY FINISHING
  • PRINT

Our team can then oversee the final stages of the project – delivery, installation and ongoing maintenance – across the UK, Europe and the globe.

KESSLERS LONDON
HISTORY

1893
Kesslers London was established in Vienna, when Bernhard Kessler opened a workshop for fine wood craftsmanship focusing on umbrella handles and walking sticks.
1893
1920's
The success of the company saw Bernhard’s son, Leopold established a branch in London in the early 1920s.
1920's
1930's
Once the motor car grew in usage in the ’30s, the demand for umbrellas decreased and Kesslers started to design and produce wooden showcases and displays instead, quickly becoming successful in this field. Kesslers then saw the unfortunate outbreak of war in 1939, bringing changes to the company, and focusing efforts into helping the country’s war efforts.
1930's
1950s -1960s
Kesslers re-established their connections with old customers and found new ones – growing into a new factory in Dalston and introducing new materials. During this time, Kesslers were recognised as one of the leading UK manufacturers of display and merchandising material.
1950s -1960s
1970’s
By the 70s, Kesslers had once again outgrown its factory and needed to move to a bigger one. This bigger space allowed for even more materials to be manufactured in house. Kesslers also became one of the pioneers in the introduction of computer assisted design and manufacturing. Since then, Kesslers has continued to lead the way in inspiring and well-made displays in house.
1970’s
2000's
Most recently, Kesslers became Kesslers London, and in 2023 underwent a successful management buy-out. Now managed by a team passionate to continue the history of excellence and eager to reach new heights by introducing innovative sustainability initiatives and inspiring stores for the current shopper.
